Stainless Smile In Office Kit Patented

38% Hydrogen Peroxide Liquid/Powder System Premixed Gel  -  Three Patient Kit

A unique In-Office system of whitening activators that make hydrogen peroxide more active.  The Stainless Smile formula is a non-aggressive formula that whitens teeth whilst maintaining their natural lustre.  In other words, it does not contain any etchants that erode teeth.

The kit contains a 10% Phosphoric Acid Paste (Optional Pre-treatment), which is intended for the removal of the pellicle layer of the teeth.  This is only applied on the teeth for 2 seconds, then is washed away, it barely gets through the pellicle layer of the teeth.  (Pellicle layer is a thin layer of tooth surface inorganic rubbish.)  Whereas the actual bleaching formulations of other In-Office/Take Home products available on the market, contain harmful etchants that erode away the tooth enamel as they sit on the teeth for 1/2 - 1 hour and are aggressively eroding the teeth,  thus losing their natural lustre.   Dentists using such products then would have to use a resin coating to varnish the teeth to re-gain lustre.  This resin coating will prevent any future bleaching system from working as it will function as a barrier.  In a few months time the resin coating will wear away and cause more staining due to the microscopic pits trapping food and colours.   Stainless Smile does not contain any etchants in its formulations.  It simply oxidizes coloured stained molecules into colourless ones.

 In office (Liquid/Powder Kit) description

Gingival Barrier (1) – Light cured resin stored in black syringes to protect contents from light.  This gel is applied using the blunt needle (3) that locks at the end of the syringe by twisting.  It is applied on the gums extending 0.5mm onto the tooth.  It is light cured using blue light (visible light). Phosphoric Acid Paste (2) – This is an optional step.  It is applied to the tooth by the dentist using a rubber cup for 2 seconds.  This step removes the pellicle layer off the tooth's surface that may interfere with the whitening process.  Please note that this step must always be done after the application of the gingival barrier. Activator Powder (5) – is mixed with 38% Hydrogen Peroxide liquid (6) to form a gel that is applied using the Microbrush (4).

 In office Instructions

Remove Kit from refrigerator half an hour before applying.

Record patient's shade using the Vita™Shade Guide before commencing treatment. Application procedure starts from left to right.

Start from the left side of the In-Office Kit and work towards the right.

Step 1

Check and record shade.  Place lip retractors.   Apply Gingival Barrier first using the blunt tip provided.  This is best done, half an arch at a time,

light cure in a fanning motion.  Make sure the gingival crevice is sealed extending the coverage area 0.5mm onto the tooth.

Step 2

Remove the pellicle layer using the 10% Phosphoric Acid Paste using rubber cup for 2 sec per tooth, rinse and dry.  Some dentists may prefer to use pumice instead.

Step 3

Mix Activator Powder and Peroxide Liquid until uniform consistency and apply with Microbrush™ onto teeth in a thick layer, always keeping clear of gums.

The rule is to leave the gel on teeth for about 9 minutes per pass.  During this period it is advantageous to expose the gel to intense light, such as the Tungsten Halogen

Light (composite light) for about 30 sec per tooth.  If eight teeth per arch are treated, there will be 1 minute left for the gel to remain on teeth without light.  If an arch light

is used then the exposure must be limited to 30 seconds and leave the gel on for 8 minutes and 30 seconds.  At the end of 9 minutes suction the gel but do not wash

Re-apply more gel for the second pass, three passes are usually sufficient, but five passes are not uncommon.

Note:  The Operating light may be used instead of the Composite Curing Light without influencing the result.

Step 4

At the end of the procedure remove the Gingival Barrier using tweezers, wash and dry, check and record shade.  Please note that bleaching continues to take place even

after the patient has left the surgery, for about 24 hours.  To enhance and maintain the results of the In-Office procedure, we recommend the Take Home System which is

available in Hydrogen Peroxide (Day System) and Carbamide Peroxide (Night System) available in different concentrations.

When deciding which concentration is best for your patient, it is useful to remember that Hydrogen Peroxide is faster acting than the Carbamide Peroxide.  The Carbamide

Peroxide changes to Hydrogen Peroxide and Urea which is inert.  As a rule, divide by three the Carbamide percentage to work out the equivalent strength of Hydrogen Peroxide.

For example 10% Carbamide Peroxide is equivalent to 10÷3=3.33% Hydrogen Peroxide.  All strengths will achieve the same result eventually.  The higher concentrations work

faster.  Day and Night Systems can be used twice a day for 30 minutes for approximately 14 days.
